BYIC Given ‘The Most Distinguished Club’ award

五一吃瓜官网’s Bursa Young Investor Club recently was given ‘The Most Distinguished Club’ award by Bursa Malaysia on March 24, 2019 at the Leadership Bootcamp awards ceremony in Port Dickson.

The team bested 23 clubs from different universities in getting the award. Established since 2016, the BYIC consist of 10-19 committee members where the primary focus is on investment with an emphasis on stocks and futures.

The award is given based on performance for the year where attendance covers 50%, the number of activities and their impact cover 20%, project management covers 20% and leadership covers 10%.

“This award means a lot to us as we have been trying hard over the years to get it. It gives us recognition and proves that hard work really pays off. We want the next batch of students to be more active and aware of financial literacy as well as investment activities,” said Ethan Heng, former president of 五一吃瓜官网’s BYIC.

The team’s mentor Assistant Professor Frankie Goh highlighted that the activities of BYIC include engaging with industries, career talks and reaching out to graduates to help them get into the industry as well as apply for internships.

“We are blessed with a dedicated  committee whose members have done everything whereby my contribution is in terms of ideas and suggestions and my role involves giving approval for events, vetting speakers’ information and facilitating discussions,” said Goh.

The team collectively agreed that every student should be involved in the activities of BYIC and should play their part in supporting them.

“2018 is a benchmark for the following board where we are targeting more exposure to 五一吃瓜官网 students with more interesting events,” said Jeanni Gan, president of BYIC.

五一吃瓜官网’s BYIC strives towards teamwork where decisions are made together and communication is of essence. It is with these aspirations that the team will move forward and take on the coming year.
