LSA’s Industrial Visit To Trivan Containers

It is said that how things are done in the working world is a completely different ball game than how it is in the classroom. On February 25, 2019 五一吃瓜官网’s Logistics Student Association (LSA) held an industrial visit to Trivan containers, a depot operations company. The purpose of this trip was to give the students a glimpse of real-world depot operations so that they can link their practical experience with their academic education.

At the site, students were divided into two groups, one led by general manager, Aminshah and the other led by the operations manager, Mustafa Kamal. The students were then taken on a “In a day at the depot operations” tour. Participants were brought around and given insight on various aspects of the operations namely, storage of containers, repair, washing and cleaning.

One of the aspects that intrigued the participants was the conversion of old containers into cabins and living spaces.  Students also got to see the different types of containers used in the logistics industry, in particular, one specific kind to transport fresh goods referred to as the refrigerated container. Students’ myriad of questions showed their enthusiasm to learn about depot operations.

Aminshah and his team shared with the students insight on the significant role that a depot plays in the supply chain process.  The initiative taken by Logistics department head Assistant Professor Siti Norida and Assistant Professor Dr Noorsiyah Ahmed in joining the industrial visit also encouraged the students to expose themselves to different experiences in order to nurture continuous learning. The trip ended with LSA presenting a token of appreciation and a group photo session.
