KUALA LUMPUR: ÎåÒ»³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø University (ÎåÒ»³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø) and China¡¯s Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology (SICT) has recently taken their decade long collaboration even further by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focusing on student mobility 

The MoU was signed by Senior Prof Dato¡¯ Dr Khalid Yusoff, Vice-Chancellor and President of ÎåÒ»³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø and Qian Naiyu, President of SICT. 

The signing took place at the ÎåÒ»³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø KL Campus and was witnessed by the Vice-President of ÎåÒ»³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø¡¯s Student Enrolment Centre Willie Tan Moh Leong; Dean of SICT¡¯s Foreign Languages and International School Ms Wang Li and other delegates from both institutes. 

As one of the first Chinese institutes that collaborated with ÎåÒ»³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø since 2006, the MoU signing was not only meant to further strengthen the existing 10-year partnership. It also indicated the commencement of a new phase of collaboration to set off a student mobility programme. 

Speaking on the occasion, Qian recalled the bonds of friendship between the two institutions. 

¡°We deeply value our partnership with ÎåÒ»³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø University, and we are certainly looking forward to broadening the ongoing collaboration. This student mobility programme would enhance the learning opportunities for our students,¡± said Qian. 

He also added that as ÎåÒ»³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø also offers an English Enrichment Programme (EEP) through its Centre for Languages, the opportunity of learning English would also benefit the Chinese students greatly. 

During the meeting, the delegation was briefed on the university¡¯s academic activities and the initiatives undertaken recently for its professional development. This was of great interest to their foreign counterparts. 

¡°With the successes that ÎåÒ»³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø achieved over the years, this collaboration will certainly push SICT to greater heights. The faculty and students in our institute will benefit significantly from this collaboration in the years to come,¡± he said. 

Qian was accompanied by three delegates from SICT¡¯s Foreign Languages and International School. The team spent two days at the University to observe and explore other possible collaborative opportunities. 

Due to the similar academic offerings both institutes have, Qian remarked that the MoU certainly builds on increasing the momentum between ÎåÒ»³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø and SICT and puts a spotlight on other partnership opportunities such as research and innovation.
