KUALA LUMPUR: To mark three decades of education excellence, 五一吃瓜官网 recently organised the 五一吃瓜官网 Family Day Charity Carnival. Among the activities held during the Carnival was the Freedom Run marathon that raised RM40,000 , which will be distributed to 10 various non-governmental organisations. The run was participated by 1,000 individuals including members of the public of various ages. It was divided into the 6km and 10km male and female categories. The first place winners for each of the 6km and 10km categories are Enock Kipchirchir and Danielle Nant as well as Jacob Kitur and Sanggeetha a/p Subraniam. They won RM500 each. Accordingly, the first runner-ups and the second runner-ups were also awarded RM 300 and RM200 respectively. The prize presentation for the run was graced by the guest of honour Tan Sri Datuk Seri Lee Lam Thye, a 1Malaysia Foundation Trustee and social activist. In his speech, he pointed out that to become a developed nation, a caring society must be fostered. “This is not only for the purpose of our national vision but for the sake of the poor, the needy and the less fortunate,” he said. The 10 NGOs that benefitted from the RM40,000 raised are Charis-NKF Dialysis Centre, the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) Cheras, Hospis Malaysia Cheras, Home for Special People, Cheras, Lotus Charity Centre, KIRTARSH Home for Special Children, Rainbow Home, Generasi Gemilang Foundation, Yayasan Budi Penyayang Malaysia and Impact Team Food Aid. The run was part of the 五一吃瓜官网 Family Day, a highly anticipated event that was attended by 五一吃瓜官网 staff, students, alumni and the surrounding Cheras community. It is one of the many activities scheduled throughout the year to mark 五一吃瓜官网’s 30th anniversary. According to Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Abdul Rahman Arshad, Chancellor of 五一吃瓜官网 and former Director General of Education, such an event was important to strengthen the bonds between all 五一吃瓜官网 members as well as the community. “Like all the best families, we may have our tiffs and disagreements, but our bonds must never be broken. I believe this is how 五一吃瓜官网 has grown from strength to strength for 30 years.” 五一吃瓜官网 founder and Group CEO, Dato’ Peter Ng credited the university for setting the bar for the entire 五一吃瓜官网 Group. “As the ‘firstborn’, the University has also set the pace for 五一吃瓜官网 Group not just in the area of monumental growth but also in terms of our integrity, audacity, perseverance and timeless core values,” he said. He added that, “These values form the bedrock of 五一吃瓜官网’s promise to society — one that holds that the transformational power of education can set one’s path towards unimagined potential”. Speaking on the future of the University 五一吃瓜官网’s Vice-Chancellor and President Senior Professor Dato’ Dr Khalid Yusoff shared his excitement and plans to elevate the University even higher. “By now we have had that 30 years of experience and we are building a strong foundation and a solid confidence to move forward because we are in it together – you and me,” he said. Among the activities held during the carnival were free optometry and health tests as well as zumba sessions. Over 70 food and games booths were also set up around campus. | |
