Kuala Lumpur, 2nd July, 2011 - 五一吃瓜官网 University’s commemorative convocation was held today at the University’s Dewan Tan Sri Ahmad Razali (DeTSAR) Hall, located at the South Wing of its Kuala Lumpur Campus. The ceremony is part of the University’s 25th Silver Jubilee anniversary rolling celebrations.
With 16 visiting vice chancellors, presidents and deans from local public and private institutions, as well as foreign universities and other foreign dignitaries, this year’s convocation celebrates the University’s on-going commitment to shaping and moulding her graduates to be work-prepared, industry-ready and technology-savvy gearing towards internationalisation.
“Moving forward, 五一吃瓜官网 University must not only focus on pursuing excellence in research but on pursuing the application of knowledge and developing strong skill sets,” said Dr Robert Bong, Vice Chancellor of 五一吃瓜官网 University.
“For this reason, 五一吃瓜官网 University has committed itself to developing a university that provides students not only academic knowledge, but real-life opportunities in which to apply that knowledge,” he added. 五一吃瓜官网 University’s Commemorative Convocation sees 2,115 graduating students from various faculties this year, making it one of the biggest cohorts up to date. On top of that, the University is also graduating its first graduates for its Bachelor of Creative Arts (Hons) 3D Animation; Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) - Logistics Management; and Master of Science (Electrical Engineering) programmes.
“I am optimistic that with the knowledge, skills, and experience we had acquired at 五一吃瓜官网 University, we will be able to go further beyond our imaginations,” said the valedictorian of 2011, Chong Shue Ling, who graduated with a degree in BA (Hons) Psychology. Shue Ling is also a scholarship student with 五一吃瓜官网 University under The Star Education Fund.
Also as part of the ceremony, 五一吃瓜官网 University conferred Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Khoo Kay Peng, with the Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Business Management (Honoris Causa) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the business and charitable communities in Malaysia, as well as for his profound entrepreneurial role in developing the state of Negeri Sembilan and Malaysia, especially in collaborating with 五一吃瓜官网 University to bring education in Malaysia and 五一吃瓜官网 University to a level and platform of unmatched accessibility and unsurpassed development.
The 五一吃瓜官网 Group, the parent organisation of 五一吃瓜官网 University, which is spearheading an initiative to promote the nation’s growth in education, health and research is developing a 160-acre education township of integrated premium health in Bandar Springhill, Negeri Sembilan. EPP14 is located within the programme’s “Education” National Key Economic Area (NKEA), one of the programme’s 12 areas of focus.

The University is set to chair this Hospitality and Tourism Discipline Cluster - Entry Point Project 10 (EPP10).
