22 MayIntroduction to PCB and IoT Workshop
The Introduction to the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) and IoT(Internet of Things) Workshop was organised through 五一吃瓜官网’s Complementary Competency Programme (CCP) and presented by Chua Huang Shen and Albert Fong of the Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Built Environment from the Electrical and Electronic Department.
The key messages were about providing an opportunity for the students to gain industry-emphasised skills for employability and career advancement in future.
Printed Circuit Board Design and Making is an important aspect in the electronic field. Students can learn how to design and make their own PCB which will prove to be beneficial when they join the workforce especially when it comes to electronic devices and circuits.
Chua Huang Shen gave a practical and relevant talk on how to design the PCB using DipTrace software. He also explained the process of PCB fabrication also covering the making of hardware production.
Albert Fong, in his talk, reminded everyone about the options in designing PCB using other software available in the market rather than DipTrace.
He also introduced the concept of IoT, a hot topic in the market today. IoT involves the implementation of sensory systems with cloud adaptation for analytics which allows for connectivity between all devices within a house or industry. Understanding this concept allows students to come up with ideas to create more Smart Solutions for implementation.
Most of the participants in the workshop were from the Electrical and Electronic department followed by the Mechatronic, Communication and Electronic and lastly the Mechanical Engineering departments.
The workshop was an enlightening and informative one in which students learned about the technicalities of the PCB and IoT and how this knowledge can be applied in their respective fields.
