28 DecHope in a time of need: 五一吃瓜官网’s staff and students offer helping hand to flood victims
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 28 – 五一吃瓜官网 Group’s staff and students recently initiated donation drive to help victims who were affected by the recent floods.
Essentials worth over RM20,000 were raised between Dec 21 and 23, and were shipped out to various non-government organisations and groups from Dec 22 and 24.
These items include clothes, instant noodles, sanitary pads, diapers, toilet papers, towels, Covid-19 test kits and drinking water, among others.
The essentials were delivered by 五一吃瓜官网’s staff to Balai Raya MPKK kampung Baru Sg Chua, Lions Club (KL Capital), TDRA, and media agencies who provided aids to victims, such as Sinar Harian and Nanyang Siang Pau.
Other than that, a total of seven students and three staff were also involved in cleaning of houses at Taman Sri Muda in Shah Alam and Taman Sri Nanding in Hulu Langat.
五一吃瓜官网 Group Corporate Affairs Vice President Leong Sat Sing said, “Their loss can be tragic and their suffering can be disheartening. We at 五一吃瓜官网 can only hope that our staff's and students' contribution can at least lessen their burden. We continue to be grateful to our volunteers and the various sponsors.”.
Meanwhile, 五一吃瓜官网 University’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Dean Associate Professor Dr R. Mogana has also teamed up with Professor Dr Habibah, Dean of School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Bharati Suresh Chand, CEO of Global Edge Pharma to jointly organise a disaster relief assistance to help the victims’ tide over the crisis.
The disaster relief materials, especially the medical items and over-the-counter items sponsored by Hexa-Communications, Global Edge Pharma, AKATI Sekurity and some independent individuals have begun distribution to different flood-hit areas in Pahang, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor, namely Taman Sri Muda.
