Ms. Nurul Hanis Mohd Fikri is a Lecturer of hospitality and tourism management in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at 五一吃瓜官网 University. She holds a Master from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) specializing in Foodservice Management. She ever appointed as research assistant in UiTM Shah Alam which led by Dr. Ahmad Esa Abdul Rahman for project titled Profiling the Culinary Heritage of the Chetti Ethnic (Peranakan India) Malacca under Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS). She has experience in learning and practicing culinary art appropriate and also researching the background of Peranakan cuisine in Malaysia, specifically Peranakan Chetti in Melaka.
She worked at the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Dungun, Terengganu as contract lecturer after receiving her master’s degree in 2022. At the UiTM Dungun, she was responsible for teaching culinary art for Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management. In 2021, she published a journal title ‘Exploring culinary heritage practices among the younger Chetti Generations in Melaka’ under Journal of Ethnic Food.
She is passionate about education and knowledge sharing through culinary art field. She is specialized in western cuisine gastronomy. Before pursuing her degree, she ever experience worked in hotel industry as kitchen crew in Royal Bintang Seremban Resort and Spa, specifically in western banquet department. She has a strong comprehensive on the hospitality and tourism especially in food and beverage line as well as scenario of food heritage conservation in Malaysia. She believed that science of gastronomy and culinary art is a bright field and a precise art of science that can rise and reflect the pride of one particular nation and culture to the eyes of world.
