1 NovSchool of IT empowers students through IT Knowledge Sharing Day
In line with their aim to empower and inspire young apprentices to explore the world of information technology and to inspire them to pursue a career in the IT field, 五一吃瓜官网 University and its School of Information Technology held their IT Knowledge Sharing Day last year on Nov 6, 2012.
As a joint effort with TriStar Digital Sdn. Bhd., the IT Knowledge Sharing Day is an educational event organised by the School of IT and the Information Technology Student Association (ITSA) on an annual basis to continuously educate students on the latest technology and trends, exclusively from the tech giant Apple.
A total of 70 Form Three and Form Four students and teachers from Sri 五一吃瓜官网 participated in the recent event, which highlighted various aspects in Apple’s advance mobile operating system – such as the iOS software development and iOS applications.
As smartphones and smart tablet developers continuously strive to create new and better features, the rapid development of such revolutionary IT gadgets also creates strong competition among third-party application creators. This applies to designing innovative, efficient and fun applications, including iOS applications in Apple devices.
During this event, a hands-on workshop was conducted by TriStar Digital’s IT trainer Mr Ng Kok Leong, who aimed to equip students with fundamental knowledge and skills in terms of developing their own iOS application for their iPhone and iPad.
Notably, the secondary school students were very excited and eager to learn more on programming an iOS application using the programming languages and codes as demonstrated by Mr Ng.
With no prior knowledge and experience in developing such applications, the students were guided through a comprehensive development process – of creating an application – by Mr Ng.
He also provided a thorough explanation of the key concepts and techniques, which will enable them to design, build and release iPhone and iPad applications.
Following the workshop, students were then encouraged to participate in a game competition where everyone stood a chance to win Apple merchandise, sponsored by TriStar Digital Sdn. Bhd.
The highest scorer of the popular game application “Fruit Ninja” took home the grand prize – a 64GB iPod Touch worth RM1049 – while two runner-ups brought home a 2GB iPod Shuffle each.
