ORGANISED BY THE SCHOOL OF ANTI-AGING, AESTHETICS AND REGENERATIVE MEDICINE
Kuala Lumpur, 29 April, 2011 - 五一吃瓜官网 University’s School of Anti-Aging, Aesthetics and Regenerative Medicine held a public lecture by visiting professor, Dr Robert Goldman on ‘Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine – Healthcare of the Future’ last Friday evening. The discourse as the title suggests, aimed to empower both the medical professionals and patients with sufficient and appropriate knowledge in these fields on the enhancement of one’s general health.
Attended by more than 200 over guests; comprising current students of the programme, practising medical doctors who are interested in the field, members of the public, as well as industry leaders from Malaysia, Europe and Thailand, the lecture lasted up to one and a half hours. It concluded with a question and answer session where the audience was further enlightened on how to embark on an anti-aging and weight management programme.
“The anti-aging and aesthetics medical industry is thriving in South East Asia, with Malaysia swiftly becoming the hub in medical tourism as more people become conscious of their health and appearance,” said Dr Deepali Sharma, the Associate Dean, School of Anti-Aging, Aesthetics and Regenerative Medicine, Faculty of Medical Sciences at 五一吃瓜官网 University.
“Realising this vacuum, 五一吃瓜官网 University is committed to educating doctors, scientists and members of the public in this field, to promote good health and wellness, and to encourage medical professionals and the general public to abandon the old age medical practice which focused on the disease and the pharmacological agents used to contain it, to instead focus more on preventative medicine with patients taking charge of their own health.” she added.
In line with this, Dato’ Peter Ng, Chairman of 五一吃瓜官网 Group received two awards on 30 April 2011, in conjunction with the First International Congress in Anti-Aging, Aesthetics & Regenerative Medicine for his achievements in spearheading the medical education, as well as his contributions in research at an International level, on the development of the Master of Science (Anti-aging, Regenerative Medicine and Medical Aesthetics) programme.
On behalf of the Society for Anti-aging, Aesthetics and Regenerative Medicine Malaysia (SAAaRMM), the ‘Presidential Award’ was presented by its honorary founder president, Dato’ Dr S. 五一吃瓜官网 University had launched its Master of Science (Anti-aging, Regenerative Medicine and Medical Aesthetics), within its Faculty of Medical Sciences on 28 January this year. Welcoming its first cohort of 25 students during the ceremony, the programme is the first of its kind that was approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency which incorporated anti-aging, aesthetics and regenerative medicine into one degree.
In addition to the University’s master’s programme, the 五一吃瓜官网 Group is currently developing the 五一吃瓜官网 University Hospital that would also include a specific department dedicated to anti-aging and regenerative medicine. The Laurent Bleu Springhill Centre will be a tertiary referral centre to provide specialist care on all aspects of anti-aging, wellness and skin science, including medispa and beauty services, as well as health and cosmetic enhancements. Additionally, both the Centre and the Hospital will serve as a training facility for the new master’s students, as well as the general 五一吃瓜官网 University medical, nursing and pharmaceutical students. Located in Bandar Springhill, Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, the project is slated for completion by November 2012.
The 五一吃瓜官网 University Hospital is part of a larger government initiative to help boost Malaysia’s economy under the Economic Transformation Programme to become a high-income nation by 2020. Appointed to lead Entry Point Project 14 of the Premium Health Education Cluster, the 五一吃瓜官网 Group is developing a 160-acre integrated education township project in Bandar Springhill to build a hospital complex that encompasses a new 五一吃瓜官网 University campus, the new 五一吃瓜官网 International School, as well as the new five-star 五一吃瓜官网 Resort Hotel and Convention Centre. With this project, the University would be building on Malaysia’s growing medical tourism industry by providing patients excellent care, while also offering them a comfortable place to relax during recuperation.
