13 FebLSA Organises Career Talk By Expeditors International of Washington
The aim of this career talk, held on 31 January 2019, was to enlighten all logistics and supply-chain students who have chosen a career path in logistics. Organised by 五一吃瓜官网 University’s Logistics Student Association (LSA), the committee seized the opportunity to invite business development manager from Expeditors International of Washington, Joyce Ong, to share her experience and thoughts on industrial expectations in logistic careers.
Throughout the event, Joyce shared opportunities to develop students’ careers in Expeditors including internship programmes, fresh graduate programmes, and 2019 global management trainee programmes. The talk created a huge link for students to engage with various job positions offered by Expeditors.
Apart from that, Joyce highlighted the importance of logistic activities and provided the history of the Expeditors group. She emphasised that all future logisticians ought to be aware and updated on global economical and logistical issues, for instance, the trade war between the worlds’ two largest economies – the United States of America and China.
Besides, she also explained why our neighbouring country Singapore, a much smaller country than ours is able to export more. The primary reason is because Singapore provides logistics services that are more frequent with various options. This business model used by Expeditors connects and integrates the quality in logistics and supply chain industries.
The talk benefited all participants and with a connection and collaboration of both academic and industrial links, this programme imparted a lot of new knowledge especially on the career path of being a senior logistic executive. This talk also created a platform for students to develop their knowledge and prepare for their future career paths accordingly to their interests. The event ended with Q&A session and a group photo.
