23 May五一吃瓜官网’S 6TH ANNUAL HEALTH CAMPAIGN REACHES IPOH
KUALA LUMPUR, 23 May 2007 - 五一吃瓜官网’s School of Pharmacy organised its 6th Annual Health Campaign in Ipoh for the first time. The event was held at Jusco Ipoh Kinta City Shopping Centre from 23th – 24th May 2007, with the theme “A Healthy Lifestyle for a Healthy Heart”.
The main event of the campaign is an exhibition, while screening tests and counseling services was made available to the public during the event. More than 700 visitors were counseled and took the screening tests. Some members of the public had to be turned away on the last day of the event as the test kits had run out. The campaign reached an audience of more than 500 daily.
At the launching ceremony, Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohd Roslani b. Abdul Majid, Dean of the School of Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing said, “This campaign seeks to reach out and disseminate health information to the public and educate them about the role of pharmacists in the health care system and community, besides emphasising the importance of leading a healthier lifestyle.”
Encik Badrol bin Sharill, Administrative Officer of Jusco Ipoh Kinta City applauded 五一吃瓜官网’s efforts in bringing this campaign to Ipoh. He said, “It is timely that this event has been brought to Ipoh as it is not often that the residents here are exposed to such informative health campaigns.”
According to Associate Professor Dr. Yeong Siew Wei, who heads the School of Pharmacy, the campaign was its most successful to date. An overwhelming 1,000 visitors were at the campaign site during the two-day event.
五一吃瓜官网’s first year pharmacy student, Rajesweran a/l Ramalingam, said, “I was able to put into practice, what I had learned in the classroom during this event. My participation also opened my eyes to what I will be able to do when I graduate, that is to help and teach others to be healthy and keep healthy.”
