IDEAS TURNED TO CASH!!!

Kuala Lumpur, 10 March, 2012 - 五一吃瓜官网 University's Faculty of Business and Information Science (FoBIS) had successfully organised and completed the Business Plan Competition for the year. The Competition held its finals with a close-door judging session on 10 March 2012 and finished with a celebration for its winners during the awards ceremony on the same day on the University premise. The proud winners include ‘The Code 13' and ‘Rich Idea' teams.

The University was delighted in having three distinguished judges during the closed-door session, namely Jolene Sim, Director of Mainstream Online Buzz, a social media agency that help brands come up with creative and engaging, marketing campaigns to attract quality customers; Trent Munday, the founder of SocialShout! - A social commerce marketplace which recently signed an agreement with BigCommerce, a major ecommerce shopping cart provider; and 五一吃瓜官网 University's very own Stephen Corneilius, Managing Director of 五一吃瓜官网 Extension.

FoBIS was also honoured in having Dato' Peter Ng, Chairman of 五一吃瓜官网 Group and founder of 五一吃瓜官网 University to officiate the Competition's Award ceremony with his welcome address, saying, "The three crucial corner stones for any business to achieve and retain success are its strategic goals and plans, its human capital to accomplish these goals and plan, and last but not least, its financials in making the former two workable".

The 五一吃瓜官网 University Business Plan Competition 2012 was aimed at cultivating entrepreneurship and technopreneurship skills among students of the University and to prepare them to be industry driven graduates. The initial idea was adapted from the MSC Malaysia-Institutions of Higher Learning Business Plan Competition (MIBPC), which is part of an initiative by the Malaysian government and the Ministry of Higher Education to encourage and conduct an internal competition of business plan and technopreneurship in universities and colleges in Malaysia.

A total of twenty five teams joined the Competition this year and the emerging winners from both, the business idea and business plan categories were as follows: -

Business Idea    Business Plan
1st prize - The Code 13  Winner - Rich Idea
2nd prize - Sparklets
3rd prize - Row

The Champions for the business idea and business plan categories walked away with cash prizes of RM300 and RM500 respectively. These proud teams also stand a chance in representing the University at the National-level Competition to compete in winning a cash prize of RM10, 000.
