Marang, 9th February 2012 - The Terengganu Campus Library organized a Book Fair on February 8, 2012 in view of the announcement made by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) on the RM 200 Book Voucher.
Located in the beautiful, warm and sunny area of Bukit Khor, Marang, the Book Fair was held in an attractive, spacious, and well-lit area of the Academic Block (Ground Floor) that was a great place to display the books to be sold. A great location for a book fair, it garnered several booksellers to come and see what the weekday book hunt yielded.
When the Fair kicked off at 9.00 o'clock in the morning, the aisles and booths were crowded with books of all kinds that were offered for sale ranging from RM3 to as high as the mid-three-figures. All the suppliers had offered discounts ranging from 5% -20% to encourage students and staff to purchase the books.
Among those present at the Book Fair, were the Deans from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Oil & Gas Management Programme, Associate Prof. Daw Win Kyi and Associate Prof. Dr Ismail, book suppliers, staff and a large number of students.
Aside from the interested students and University faculty members, there were four book sellers from Kuala Lumpur (IBS Buku Sdn. Bhd. & Kedai Buku IBZANIS Sdn. Bhd.), Kedah (TRM Books Sdn Bhd) and Terengganu (KOPERASI USM Bhd.) who showed equal interest by setti9ng up their booths there.
Among the highlights of the Terengganu Campus Book Fair were a focus on books on Medicine, Oil & Gas Management, Education, novels, religious books and general fiction.
The Terengganu Campus Library intends to make this Book Fair its annual event. As the organizers of the event, I would like to thank all the staff and students for their participation and support.
