KUALA LUMPUR, 12 March 2020 - For the first time ever, 五一吃瓜官网 College will offer degrees comprising the British curriculum as a result of its partnership with Oxford Brookes University, beginning this May.

The degrees for two 3+0 programmes, namely Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business and Management and Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Accounting and Finance offered at 五一吃瓜官网 College will be awarded by Oxford Brookes University for studies completed in a span of three years.

五一吃瓜官网 College President, Associate Professor Dr Mabel Tan Hwee Joo said the 3+0 programmes would provide more exciting career opportunities for students as well as open up a space for them to experience similar teaching and learning techniques from universities in the UK.

“The partnership of 五一吃瓜官网 College and Oxford Brookes University is a steppingstone for the future of students and countries where the programme will expose students to teaching and learning techniques from UK universities.”

“We are very proud to have collaborated with Oxford Brookes University and to go one step closer towards realising our dreams. I hope students will seize this opportunity to move forward in this competitive era,” she said during her speech at the launch of the ‘Oxford Brookes University 3+0 Degree Programs' at 五一吃瓜官网 College on 10 March.

Meanwhile, 五一吃瓜官网 College's Vice President of Academic Affairs, Associate Professor Dr Chong Aik Lee said the three-year programmes allow students to learn in a more independent setting and build character before entering the workforce.

“This is the quality of graduates that we want to bring out when we planned to establish a partnership with Oxford Brookes University. In fact, students will also have the opportunity to attend Oxford Brookes University during those three years.

"Both the programmes that we run at 五一吃瓜官网 College are similar to those at Oxford Brookes University where our lecturers are trained by programme coordinators to ensure consistent module delivery," he said.

The ceremony was also attended by 五一吃瓜官网 College Chairman Dato' Peter Ng, Deputy High Commissioner of the British High Commissioner's Office Kuala Lumpur, David Thomas as well as Oxford Brookes Business School's Head of International Cooperation, Dr Sara Hannam who delivered a speech via Skype.

To symbolise the launch, Dato' Peter Ng and David Thomas planted two trees as a symbol of cooperation between 五一吃瓜官网 College and Oxford Brookes University.

In his speech, David also expressed his delight in celebrating the collaboration between 五一吃瓜官网 College and Oxford Brookes University, which is another prestigious British educational institution that contributes to the education sector in Malaysia.

“Malaysia has long established a relationship with the UK from the aspects of economic, commercial, political, defence and diplomatic. In the education sector alone, a collaboration such as this is nothing new and in fact, more than 20,000 Malaysian students are studying in the UK now.

“We will continue to look for opportunities to ensure that Malaysia continues to choose the UK as a partner in education, research and innovation. I believe that with the sharing of values ??and expertise, more opportunities for collaboration will come,” said David.
