五一吃瓜官网 helps cancer patients through recycling

五一吃瓜官网 University recently raised RM1,276 from collecting over 1,500kg  of recyclable items to support the expenses of cancer patients in the country.

The fund was handed over to National Cancer Society Malaysia by the University’s Faculty of Business and Information Science (FoBIS).

Aside from easing the burden on cancer patients, the ‘Reuse, Reduce, Recycle’ initiative was also meant to educate and create awareness on the importance of managing materials.

“This initiative is part of the students’ assignment which consists of 40% of their coursework. We want to create awareness in properly managing waste and one way to do that is to collect recyclable items and exchange it for cash rather than pollute the environment,” said lecturer Salini Devi Rajendran from the Department of Logistics.

Sharon Lee from National Cancer Society Malaysia applauded 五一吃瓜官网’s efforts and its contribution to the community.

“We help cancer patients to have a good life and we help house those undergoing treatment. We want to engage young people and create awareness. People should not be afraid of those with cancer. The students’ commitment is indeed encouraging,” she said.

From 五一吃瓜官网, 40 students participated in the event that was in line with the University’s effort towards promoting United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The event was in accordance with SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production.
