In celebration of the contribution of teachers today, Ng emphasised that teachers are like ‘candles’ where it seems as though they are burning themselves to give light to others.

However, he said, when their students excel in exams, their career and most importantly, life, there is no greater reward.

“It is often said that our students will go on to be tomorrow’s leaders. In this light, be encouraged that their future and that of this great nation, will depend on you,” he added.

Also present at the ceremony was Private Education Cooperative of Malaysia chairman , Dato’ R. Rajendran who further commented that the ceremony was to celebrate the success and achievements of private educators in the country.

“It is evident that students need role models to emulate. Teachers, in turn, mould the future of the nation. Therefore, approaches and programmes should be relevant to the future. Teaching must come from the heart with the aim of improving the lives of fellow Malaysians,” he said.

The mission of the Private Education Cooperative of Malaysia is to establish a strong network among members to empower them through education and training opportunities, to enable them to enjoy welfare and financial assistance.
