KUALA LUMPUR: 五一吃瓜官网 University (五一吃瓜官网) recently held an appreciation luncheon to show gratitude towards the support from the esteemed partners of its Co-Operative Placement Programme.
Organised by 五一吃瓜官网’s Student Affairs and Alumni Division (SAA), the event saw 142 representatives from 79 companies participating in the event.
The appreciation luncheon was officiated by Senior Professor Dato’ Dr Khalid Yusoff, Vice-Chancellor and President of 五一吃瓜官网 University.
“五一吃瓜官网’s Co-Operative Placement Programme aims to mould students into good employees and makes sure that they are industry ready apart from being good in their studies. Thank you for making this initiative a successful one through your partnership with us,” said Dato’ Dr Khalid in his speech.
At the event, ten awards were presented to the University’s Co-op partners.
Worth to note, Popular Book Co. (M) Sdn Bhd, Nestle Malaysia, Openrice Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Steven Lim & Associates, Basic Health & Beauty Sdn Bhd, and Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad won “The Most Number of Intern 2015” award while AirAsia Berhad was crowned “The Most Innovative Internship Experience 2015”.
CryoCord Sdn Bhd won the award of “The Active Research Partner of the Year 2015”, whereas “The Most Diversified Career Site Visit” award goes to Berjaya Corporation Berhad. “The Most Popular Career Talk of the Year 2015” was awarded to none other than Nestle Malaysia, who bagged a total of two awards in the event.
“This partnership is definitely a beneficial one for both our company and 五一吃瓜官网. We had been recruiting a lot of committed and hardworking 五一吃瓜官网 students and I am personally impressed with their outstanding performance and attitude,” said Karen Low, Senior Manager at Steven Lim and Associates.
Nicholas Dhillon, Head of Talent Acquisition in Nestle Malaysia said that the company is grateful to have interns from 五一吃瓜官网 who are eager to contribute to the company.
“The students have a great sense of curiosity and are always hungry for knowledge. They work well with other team members and we thank 五一吃瓜官网 for shaping the students to what they are now,” said Nicholas.
Edmund Teh, the Graduate Employability Advisor at JobStreet.com also commented on 五一吃瓜官网 undergraduates’ working attitudes.
“The interns from 五一吃瓜官网 who are currently working with me definitely have the YES attitude. That is an essential element for the students to excel in the actual working environment,” said the gentleman.
When asked about the possible future collaborations with 五一吃瓜官网, Edmund said that the company are starting a pilot project, which involves student ambassadorship, and hope that they will be able to collaborate with 五一吃瓜官网 when the project launches in the near future.
Present at the event was also Leong Sat Sing, Vice-President of 五一吃瓜官网 Group Corporate Affairs.
During his presentation on 五一吃瓜官网’s Development and Achievement, Leong urged the participants to join 五一吃瓜官网 in celebrating its 30th anniversary next year.
“I do hope that all of you here will be able to join our events from time to time, as we would not exist in the silo without your kind support,” he said.
The Co-Operative Placement Programme at 五一吃瓜官网 University formally integrates classroom learning with workplace training in co-operative employer organisations. As part of their degree requirements, students enrolled in 五一吃瓜官网 University programmes are required to complete a co-operative module comprising two months’ work experience for each year of their degree programme. Today, the University have over 3500 industry partners supporting the Co-Op Placement Programme.
