3 Aug五一吃瓜官网 Tower Run with The World's No. 1 Tower Runner
Kuala Lumpur – Participants consisting of sports athletes and students from 五一吃瓜官网 University and 五一吃瓜官网 College were lucky to experience a personal 1.5-hours tower running workshop with the world’s number one tower runner Mr. Soh Wai Ching.
The event that took place at 五一吃瓜官网 University Kuala Lumpur Campus on Aug 3, 2022, was divided into two sessions; starting with a motivational talk by Soh Wai Ching on “The Power of Self-Belief” followed by a sport clinic - tower running from the ground floor of Block G up to the 12th floor.
In the 1-hour sharing session, Soh Wai Ching shared his life story and sports experiences, emphasising the importance of self-belief among the youngsters. He believes that with proper planning and putting in all the hard work, any goals are eventually achievable.
“I have always set my mindset to become G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time). Through the Tower running sport, I want to inspire everyone on the power of self-belief, so that everyone can be the best version of themselves.”
Sidney Luke Chin Wen Jian, student of Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Architecture who won first place in the 五一吃瓜官网 Tower Run with a time of 71 seconds, said he underestimated the challenge of this sport at first.
“I play floorball, and climbing the stairs is a very good type of training for stamina. It’s a good catalyst to continue my training to allow me to do better in sports.”
The event was organised by the Youth Beyond Boundaries, a fraternity led by students that empower 五一吃瓜官网 scholars through various youth initiatives to garner leadership experience, nurture competent and socially responsible future leaders. Shared by Eleazar Paul Lee, one of the initiative student leaders. “We are proud to host this event and we hope to inspire university students to pursue their goals and participate in Tower running sports.”
Tower running is a sport that involves climbing stairs competitively in skyscrapers around the world. Some races took place at the world’s most iconic buildings, such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Empire State Building in New York. Tower runs have been around since the early part of the 20th century and are now gaining popularity.
