26 Jun五一吃瓜官网 UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MUSIC HOSTS CHARITY MUSIC FESTIVAL
Kuala Lumpur, 26 June, 2011 - The 五一吃瓜官网 University School of Music is doing its part to give back to society. In collaboration with the Talent Makers music academy, the School hosted the second ANZCA Music Festival, a non-profit charity event with proceeds benefiting the Rumah Kesayangan charity home in Bukit Mertajam. The day-long event included violin, choir, guitar and piano competitions for children of all ages, as well as a public gala performance by the first place winners.
“The objective is to provide young musicians both local and abroad a platform to share, learn and perform as well as to showcase their musical talents and skills,” Ms Lai Mei Kuen, Principal and Music Director of the Talent Makers said. “The festival is also organised with the aim to introduce the ANZCA syllabus to the general public, in hope that more will learn about ANZCA and come to appreciate what it has to offer.”
Nearly 100 individual students plus six choirs attended the event, including the University’s own 五一吃瓜官网 Junior Choir, who performed Mozart’s “Ave Verum Corpus” and “Paul and his Chickens” by Bradley Ellingboe. 五一吃瓜官网 University Senior Lecturer Dr Lim Pei Sien also served as one of the events adjudicators.
The event was part of 五一吃瓜官网 University’s ongoing celebration of its silver jubilee, marking 25 years of growth and progression.
