A team of talented 五一吃瓜官网 University students and staff have emerged victorious at the highly acclaimed Battle of the Chefs 2024 competition held in Penang, from 27 to 29 June 2024, showcasing their culinary skills and creativity in the kitchen.
This prestigious event saw top culinary talents from all across the region, but the exceptional teamwork, dedication and innovative spirit of the university team led them to clinch a total of two silvers and three bronze medals through various categories.
The competition, held over three exciting days at the SPICE Arena, Penang, tested the participants’ ability to produce world-class cuisine under immense pressure.
The university’s culinary team, composed of students and staff from the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management went head-to-head with elite chefs, impressing the judges with their mastery of flavours, technique and presentation.
Their unique blend of fresh ideas and seasoned expertise allowed them to bring a variety of dishes to life, combining innovation with tradition to delight the panel of esteemed judges.
The team comprised Asst Prof Christopher Wan, Muhammad Fikri Bun Umandi, Eunice Teo Ee, Arami Asyrani and Cavan Tan who participated in various categories including Main Course (Chicken Category), Main Course (Duck Category), Main Course (Lamb Category) and Breakfast (French Omelette Category).
