The Foundation programmes provide a more focused or specialized progression route after secondary school, to a degree course in 五一吃瓜官网 University. Both our Foundation in Science and Foundation in Arts programmes are FULLY ACCREDITED by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA). We have also successfully placed our Foundation students – in both disciplines – in world-renowned universities and colleges across the globe.
The 五一吃瓜官网 Foundation is owned and managed by the relevant faculties at the University. This structure is significant in making the Foundation studies seamlessly integrated to the next level of the respective degree programmes desired by the students. The aspirations of the faculties, whether in promoting the national STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) agenda or enhancing the students’ readiness for the 4th Industrial Revolution, are introduced and inculcated at this level.

The professors who teach our bachelor and postgraduate degree programmes are the same professors who teach selected courses in our foundation programmes, either in part or wholly. These professors are experts in their areas, so they provide the best guidance, exposure and mentoring in helping your children shape their future to whatever they aspire to be. We believe only the best deserves the best! To date, 五一吃瓜官网 University boasts of 33% having the “Professor” and “Associate Professor” designation among our PhD-qualified academicians. We are well under way to contributing to the achievement of Malaysia’s targeted 60,000 PhDs by 2030.
The curricula of both foundation programmes are on par with internationally-recognised Year 12 syllabus and equivalent public examination systems. Our Foundation programmes employ a wide variety of learning and teaching methodologies to cater and appeal to the many learning styles and capabilities of our students, at the same time striking a balance with the nature of the subject matter studied. Examples of learning and teaching methodologies employed here are lectures, laboratory sessions, group discussion, written tests, assignments, presentations, forums, blended learning, online-based activities, workshops and field trips. By employing these methodologies, we train students to be independent, resourceful, all-rounded and self-initiated in the learning process. Subjects are taken on a semesterly basis. Each subject is assessed continuously throughout the semester leading to a final examination at the end of the semester. The final grade of a subject is determined by the cumulative marks from the continuous assessment and the final examination.
五一吃瓜官网 University also offers Peer-assisted Study Sessions (PASS) for students. The sessions target traditionally difficult academic subjects – namely those with high failure rates and withdrawals or subjects that students perceive as most difficult. PASS provides peer-facilitated sessions to all students of these subjects. Organised into regular schedules, the face-to-face sessions are arranged outside of classes and are attended by students on a voluntary basis.

Each semester runs for 14 weeks and there are no short semesters for the Foundation programme. The programme is to be completed for a minimum duration of 3 semesters (1 year). Each Foundation programme requires a total of 14 subjects to be passed – 11 core and 3 elective subjects. We offer a wide variety of elective subjects for students to choose from, ranging from subjects that help shape character and values, enhancing interpersonal and soft skills, to those that give a glimpse of the subject area of the bachelor degree to be undertaken.
Yes. We allow credit transfer only for subjects that are in common between the new and the previous pathways.
We have the Foundation Students’ Association (FSA) which boasts of a foundation-only exclusive membership. The activities are organized by foundation students for the foundation students! Apart from FSA, our students are encouraged to be active participants in 五一吃瓜官网 University’s other clubs and societies, and any other external (and legitimate!) societies to be a part of this globally-minded student community.
